Can U ID my wheels?

Ok, so I’m rather embarrassed to admit it, but I purchased these wheels on Ebay, without finding out what kind of wheels they were. I was looking for wheels for my wife, I saw these, and I jumped on them. It wasn’t until after I had won the auction that I decided to ask the seller, “Oh by the way, what did I just buy.” Don’t even remember what he told me they were, but I had never heard of them, and a web search came up with nothing.

Thinking back to wheels I have seen in the past these look like wheels I had seen called Spin. Does that ring a bell? Does anybody know anything about these wheels? I’m considering selling them this weekend at a bike swap and I would like to be able to tell the prospective buyers a little something about them.

The wheels are kind of heavy, and we just got her a Softride Lite, which is on the heavy side itself. Not sure they would have added much benefit for her.

Thanks for any info the forum can provide.

Okay, so I can’t figure out how to insert the photos into the body of the text…so to view my wheels please go to:

Click on the race wheels album.

Sorry can’t help with the wheels. But I do have a bridge for sale, cheap too.

Yah, those are definetly SPIN wheels. Not light, not great hubs. Hate to break it to you, but I don’t think they were very aero either. If my memory serves me correctly, there were a lot of bad three-spokes. The Zipp’s in particular were actually slower than 32 hole stock wheels.
For their cedit though, they are bomb proof, and they last forever. I’d train on them (maybe, but get your wife a new set of wheels for racing.)

Yep Spin wheels, Great for training since they are so heavy.

Ouch. Sorry, but I have to second the other poster’s opinion. Those wheels aren’t good for much. And yes, they are Spin wheels.

Thanks for the confirmation. Lesson learned, I’ll be a little more careful with my future Ebay purchases.

In addition to being heavy and unaero, they also have a tendency to vibrate at speed. My guess is that this due to the shallow rim flexing between the spokes.

I made the mistake of buying one many years ago (at retail!) and have regretted that decision ever since. It remains my worst purchase of a cycling product ever.

john bought spins at retail? ooo. you never admitted that one to me… I thought those went with the old cracked corsa in the garage. shows what I know.

I have to disagree with everyone. Those are Spins. Maybe you can use them to get $100 off some spinergy’s. see other thread.

Nope, no connection to the Corsa. I hang my head in shame…

Seriously. Start a bike M-U-S-E-U-M. No other use for those boys. DO you have the Cassette of Freehweel spins? Make a single speed out of it. Nothing like an utterly useless application for an utterly useless dust collector. WHy haven’t you modified them?
