I’ve never heard any rumor about this… read on… Dear Enthusiasts: A pro cyclist who we are sponsoring just returned back from Europe. He was telling me about some of the latest items being used by the European Pro Teams… behold what campy will be coming up for the market. Though i believe this may not be new news to others but we wish to share this knowledge to everybody. The ELEVEN (11) SPEED Groupsets are now being used by the Pro Teams!!! I believe you will see more of these sets in the upcoming Tour de France. The chains are now thinner and the cassette gear spacings are narrower. I wonder what they will come out next 12speed?, 14 speed?. The way i look at it is with the 11-speed system you can have an 11-27T gear ratio. Providing a broader range of gearing without ever changing you cassettes already. The ELECTRONIC SHIFTING should also be available soon as they are now already displayed in the bike shops in Europe!!!. So if you are a Campagnolo Fan and are about to purchase a new group set… hold on to your wallets. You may have to consider buying these babies soon. Hopefully we could get these in within the nest few weeks. Aseastar Sports
Was this the same friend who you were assisting in the transfer of TWENTY-SEVEN MILLION DOLLARS which belonged to the late DR. HEYWOODJA BLOWME of the REPUBLIC OF NAMBIA?
I’ve heard talk of 11 speed cogsets. I’m not sure how credible it is.
at 'salon du cycle’4 years ago, there was a shimano prototype with 14 speeds…so it’s definitely possible, and arriving on this earth soon…

I am pretty sure that Shimano has held a patent on a 28/42 speed (double/triple) drive train for several years but has been limited by chain technology.

That’s odd… I was there and saw no Shimano 14-speed prototype. Speaking with the Shimano folk not too long ago I learned they had a patent on a 14-speed cassette and shifters but I was told there were no working prototypes and certainly not “arriving on this earth soon” because they felt there was no present demand nor need for it.
Looks to be 10 on Simoni’s bike: http://www.cyclingnews.com/photos/2005/giro05/tech/?id=bikes2/cn-giro05-cdalebi05
Not that others aren’t using it. I just wish one of the big two would develop a relatively lightweight, internally geared hub - that would be something to get excited over.
What about a CVT drivetrain? No shifting, ever.
Ouch. That wasn’t a pretty sight.
