Matt White from Discovery sustained a pair of skull fractures in a training crash Tuesday. He’s resting and OK.
Out for a routine training ride with Julian Dean, “Whitey,” 32, fell hard after a dog ran out in the road. Matt’s bike made contact with the animal (who walked away) but he was thrown straight over the handlebars and hit headfirst. It appears that the double skull fracture is his only major injury.
Matt will remain in the hospital for at least 4-5 days. Although he is quite “banged up and tired” according to wife Jane, but is otherwise OK.
one happened in the biggest bike race of the year on a closed road where the folks around there should no better.
The other happened who knows where in a town/city that may or may not have leash laws.
I think what Mr. Mucus is trying to say is that the previous threads were about ignorant people bringing their dogs to races and events where they become race obstacles.
It apepars to me that, as this was a training ride, this was just an unfortunate accident.
That has never stopped a can of worms from opening here
Some dog people are pretty passionate… I saw a guy driving down the road with a full-sized standard poodle sitting upright in his passenger seat (looked sort of like his wife) and he had a bumper sticker that said: “My Standard Poodle is smarter than your honor student”.
I told my kids at the next stoplight to roll down their window and ask him if his dog can name the capitals of all fifty states. They were going to do it when I told them I was joking… would have been funny as hell, though!
