I just got my HED 3rd brake lever and am examining how to route the cable. Can I use a drill on my Vision carbon aerobars to wallow-out the hole so I can slide a second cable through the bar? I assume this is a recipie for disaster.
I am fairly sure that
- yes you can do it
- if well done, there are no risks
- you void the warranty
what Francois said…I’d use a Dremel rather than a drill though…and use a carbide burr to do it…much cleaner hole and way more control over the cut
.
If I open the hole up a little more is it going to considerably weaken the cf? A bar failure would suck, but its not like its on the base bar and I don’t think I put too much strain on the end of the aero bar; I may be wrong though. My plan, unless someone says otherwise, is to open the holes on the inside of the bar so that the shifter cable is on the outside and the 3rd brake cable is on the inside. Would top and bottom mount be better? Would running the cable along the outside of the bar be better and not mess with this? I want it to look nice hence the idea of running it through the bar.
