Can Fabian climb mountains decently?

Could he win this thing? Maybe he should have a surgeon cut out some upper body muscle when they hit the mountains to drop weight, haha

No. I don’t think he can win this thing. But he can climb decent.

Compared to us? Yes. Compared to the real GC threat guys? No.

If he wanted to lose some weight he would have to cut off most of his legs and half his ass, which might be counter productive. That dude has some serious pistons.

if we removed his torso completely it might work out well!

Well, it all depends on the stuff he’s on. Remember George Hincapie in 2005.

I remember that one day.

I thought the stuff he was on that day was never taking a pull at the front

Compared to the real climbers and the major GC threats, history would lead to a “No” answer. However, I am sure that he will be able to do the tempo that the team needs him to do when the road tilts up and Carlos Sastre is in a better postion for a mountain stage win or to make a run up the GC. Some of these bigger guys can go surpisingly well when all they know they have to do is go hard till 10K or 5K to go and then they are done.

I belive he is on a Cervelo Soloist Carbon SL with Zipp wheels, Dura Ace Dtrain, FSA Bars, Stem and Crank and a Flite saddle.

Loved you in Transformers dude… seriously!

After seeing some ‘estimated’ power numbers from the prologue, it’s gonna be tough for anyone to beat Kloden.

Fabian is awesome, but it’s tough to overcome physics.

I remember that day, George went off early, built a large lead while sucking wheel most the time, and got his ass kicked up the last climb by the real climbers. Same as always, only this time he had enough of a lead, that he beat them to the top. He didn’t climb spectatcular that day, just got a big head start as I remember. Nothing new there, unless you are talking about something else…

Probably it was just me, Frankie Andreu and Jonathan Vaughters that were surprised by GH’s performance, not only that day but in the whole 2005 TdF.

I’m pretty sure he’s talking about Pla d’Atet, the queen mountain stage in the '05 Tour that he won. George was in a breakaway and didn’t have to work too hard, and when the climbers started attacking to break the group up he covered all the attacks. By the end it was just George and that Phonak dude, who he outsprinted at the finish.

I was surprised too

That’s the stage I was referring to also, but as I remember, the climbers let them go early, and made up a lot of ground on the last climb. Geroge only had to contend with a couple guys as I remember it, on the last climb…Maybe someone has the tape and can refresh our memories, but I remember the real climbers taking over 5 minutes out of George and the other guy, just not enough to catch them…

The other guy was Oscar Pereiro, Monty… you know, that shitty climber that won the Tour last year???

er, who won the tour last year? if you’re ruling out suspected dopers you need to keep going a bit…

I’m ruling out suspected dopers that actually tested positive.

but there is no test for blood doping
