Pearson coming back from injury, with a really good swim, and a going backwards bike. See how the run goes for him. Sounds like he’s pushing forward with itu again as well w/ home LA Olympics.
As I surmised, Hayden is suffering form his recent illness, so probably at 90%. Rico on fire, something about this course really suits him, hope he has taken care of himself early to make sure he gets to th line in tact. He often races like a dog, only please don’t race ghosts when there are none. Morgan doing the exact same race as last year, let’s see if he can run up a couple places.
And for me here on the same time zone, I stay off here so as not to get spoilers, until I can FF through some dead spots and catch up to the live race. Hey what happened to Jack’s Zorgnotti pick?
I’m as big a T100 fan as there is around here and I completely missed that the race was happening this morning. Not sure if it’s because there wasn’t as much YT promo in the lead up or if it’s just that I haven’t been on the trainer as much (and thus less YT).
This West/Pearson battle could be spicy.
Ya I saw West pulling towards Pearson, and that sprint is for real money too in these races. Rico just loves this race, and funny as the swim is basically irrelevant in it. But when you watch him corner on the turns, you can see he throws caution to the wind and just rides them like a pro crit
I watched it on the trainer this morning. It was a good race, and I was happy to see RB win. Hate to say it but it’s definitely more interesting when HW is less than 100 percent. Sure wish Mika Noodt had been there.
When Appo got his penalty late in the broadcast and the camera cut to him in the tent, Vicky had the PERFECT opportunity to drop her “gorgeous” line, and didn’t. I’m sure she will hear about that in next episode.

Wonder if they cut back their social media boosting budget. It’s not like they can market things traditionally…I suppose they could buy a few front page articles on this and say PTN to get the word out.

Incredible race by Priester. NOBODY could have predicted that powerhouse bike. Even when he got dropped by Bogen, he kept putting time in to everyone else. If he races anything close to that level, he will be a big threat even with a full list. Front pack swim, super strong bike, even better run.
It was a fun race to follow, and very well filmed on the run. Too bad we had too many drop outs (Geens and Van Riel in particular).
I also like how T100 races, even with a “weak” field, puts everyone at their place, with those finishing near the back being podium contenders in other pro races (I’ll let you guess what athletes I’m talking about 
)

His bike in SF wasn’t that much of a surprise tbh. He was just less than 4 minutes behind Bogen in Aix-en-Provence over 90km and 2’25 in T100 SF. He said in the post race interview from Aix that he had more to give on the bike and regretted not pushing harder. Looking forward to seeing him again for sure.

He was also a very good ITU cyclist last year in Rome world cup he was basically holding the gap to 2 packs of 20 people solo ( the issue was always the swim for him )
It’s this typical profile that does well, not great ITU swimmer that is used to work the bike and he is a very good runner . I would say he will get better when he adapts a bit better to TT bike riding.
Well I will admit that my comment was too hyperbole when I said Nobody could have predicted it. But I used Aix as comparison and seemed to remember other 70.3 where he always came from behind.
The difference with Aix is that I think Bogen was on another level yesterday. He put like 5’ or more on top notch cyclists. In Aix, he arrived in T2 in a group of 4 not specially known for bike power (Sperl, Guerbeur, Bortolamedi), at least not on Bogen’s level.
So I would argue that Bogen’s bike in SF was much better than in Aix (he said he biked stronger than last year where his numbers were bonkers).
So while Priester’s deficit to Bogen mat have been on par with Aix, what impressed me most is he put time on all the others.
Anyway, hard to say, and it could be true that the normal strong cyclists didn’t have their day, as it is true they didn’t put that much time on lesser known cyclists like West.
So kudos if you saw that coming from Priester. I sure didn’t !
Bogen was a minute slower in SF in 2026 than 2025 despite his numbers being better. Wilde was coming back from an illness, Bergere was coming back from triple injury and maybe Draper was slower than usual.
After that ITU run in Hamburg 2021? I always thought we would see a lot more of Priester but never really did (health issues 2024). Glad he is now competing where he needs to be.
What happened Schoeman? He was feeling pretty confident in pre race interviews for a top 5 or a lucky podium?
