So here’s the scenario. I just converted my road bike to Campy. I bought my race wheels from a guy that used to use them on shimano and campy bikes so he gave me both free hubs. Last night I took the SHimano hub off & put the campy one on with no problem. However, when I put the campy cassette on, the center of the hub on the drive side, seems a tiny bit too short. It’s actually even with the lockring. This causes problems because it means the lockring slightly rubs my frame and if I try to shift into the 11, then the chain binds against the frame.
I can’t figure out if there is some adjustment I need to make. Can anyone tell me what the issue is?
On a side note, I raced a crit this morning with a SHimano wheel on my Campy bike and it shifted 100% perfectly and was actually more quiet than my full shimano drive-train…what’s up with that? I’m wondering why I just spent $150 on a Campy cassette…
This may be an overly simple guess, but if I remember correctly Shimano cassettes use a spacer behind the cassette, campy ones do not. I assume you would have tried that. Also, there are four different Campy lockrings. For some reason Campy thinks the lockring should come with the hub not the cassette. Having the wrong one causes the problems you are experiencing.
I haven’t worked on Campy much in the last few years, but I know switching lockrings fixed a lot of problems in the past.

Thanks for your thoughts.
No I didn’t put the Shimano spacer on, although that was a good guess as that could have caused the same issue
The lockring does look especially thick but mine did come with the cassette. Perhaps I’ll see if I can find another one.
