I thought that I have read about DA shifters on a Tri bike being used on a campy bike.
So here is the question, can you mix components? (I know it is like mixing religion) can you run a campy rear with a DA shifter? or can you run a campy 10 with a DA 10 cassette? etc, etc, etc?
Which, run friction mode or mix campy/shimano? Argument for friction mode is that it allows you to run multiple speed cassettes at will. I run anywhere from 8-10 speed (8 speed being a narrow gearing - straight 12-19) on my bike depending on the course or training.
Argument for mixing campy/shimano? You love campy but don’t want to pay a premium for the campy bar end shifters.
It is generally not best to try and mix Campy and Shimano components in a drive train. There are subtle but mechanically important differences. You’ll be OK with the bar end shifters in friction mode, but won’t have the nice clean shifting. If you mix other components, you might find youself with performance problems that are not what you need during the bike segment.
