Cameron Brown on a Scott?

Just read that Cam will be riding for Scott USA. Do they even have a Tri bike?

Oh man, say it ain’t so!!!

Bummer loss for Litespeed. Maybe Cam was lusting after a CR1 for his winter rides? Their tri bike does not appear to be an upgrade to what he’s been on.

Nothing would be an upgrade over what Cam has been on. His Campy Blade is the most awesome tribike in the world.

I think he is going to feel the bumps in the road a bit more… I personally think Cameron was made for the blade, but I guess he needs the $$$'s too…

Well, I’m digging the CR1 road bike…

C’mon people it’s a feaking bike, it’s irrelevant. He’ll still win NZ and top 5 in Kona. The kind of bike a guy rides has little to do with his race performance. They are all light and stiff and aero and shift well and have nice wheels.

From a marketing standpoint, I have a feeling we will see a carbon TT bike very soon.

I have the CR-1 and it is a great carbon bike. But the Scott TT bike Cameron might ride is aluminum. Don’t think it can be as comfy as his Litespeed, but this will be a good bench test regarding frame materials if he can still win races like he used to on his ti frame.

And he’s coming off a Blade. I feel his pain already just thinking about it.

I sure hope they do a better job putting his bike(s) together for him than they did with the announcement on their website - did they use babelfish to translate or something???

I guess the point I was trying to make is that frame material is also substantially irrelevant. Your body doesn’t touch the frame and the frame doesn’t touch the ground. Good wheels, tires, seatposts, forks, handlebars, saddles etc, do away with all the road noise. All aluminum gives you is a super stiff, responsive bike. If anything, Brown will be faster on the bike and faster on the run getting off a lighter, stiffer frame. Thew reality is that in a 8+ hour race, it’s all about dealing with the day, not your equipment. The top guys are always fit. It comes down to fueling.

That doesn’t make one bit of sense… especially the former sentence…

aha. good choice. I bet he will ride the same as me CR1 with a saddle slighty forward. The TT is indeed alu and twice as heavy. The estonian giant Ain Alar Juhanson rides one, only because he destroyed two carbon ones in the past. Can’t wait to see his position and set up

I looked at this frame closely at a TT the other day. For the tri techies out there it’s worth nothing that the seat tube angle is pretty slack… I think Saunier Duval will be using this as well.

First of all Cameron Brown is not only a great athlete, he is also a super nice guy, with a great family. Athletes do change sponsors and that is just part of athletics in general, and that is ok.
In regards to the weight of the CR1 versus the Ghisallo, the Scott site lists 880gr, while the lightest Ghisallo we have currently listed is 889gr. We do give weight certificates with the Ghisallo so quite possibly the Ghisallo customers receive is actually lighter.

Cam, wasn’t riding a blade?

Scott Montgomery is Scott’s head guy in the USA, from what I’ve heard he was THE reason Cannondale got into triathlon so heavily. Considering how dead-sexy the CR1 is, I would bet the company is working on something at that level in a triathlon-specific platform.
