CamelBak - Who uses it?How?

I have been getting lowerback pains lately, due to the fact that I use a camelbak attached to my fannypack, otherwise the camelbak keeps falling towards the back of my head (yes, very agressive position ala Mr.A)

I thought about using it under the cycling jersey, the only problem would be at the water stops, but seems to be worth 3-5 more minutes than a 6hrs lower back pain :).

ANy suggestions?

thanx

If your position is that aggressive do you think it could be more due to the position than due to the location of the Camelbak?

One thing you could do is try and find a way to modify the straps so it could ride lower on your back, but not so low as a fanny pack.

very good advice about the stripes, thanks, simple but i haven´t thought about getting a ´´hand made´´ one…

nah, the pain is not for the position, only feel when i use the bak, problem is that in the fanny pack there are few tools, mobile phone, air pump etc etc, so quite heavy and support that for 5+hrs with your shoulders/ seems to be the cause of the problem

definitely trying a longer stripe…thanks

To lighten the load, attach your pump to the frame and put all the tools and other junk into a seat bag.

Or a (large) spare bottle on your seat tube. I hate carrying anything in my jersey or in seat bags.

But to answer the original question, I only use it on long trail runs out in the boonies, or adventure races, that kind of thing. Never for cycling, sorry bud.

I agree, I love it for the long runs. Not on the bike.

In general, I use a back pack mounted hydration system for longer runs where water will not be available during the run, expecially in colder weather when the extra clothing provides some padding between the backpack and your skin.

With a layer or two on I do not feel the backpack hydration system on. When I am only wearing a singlet I notice it much more.

I don;t use one on the bike much. It is annoying and feels odd.
