Calories in / calories out for gaining weight necessairy

I am skinny and want to gain weight. I have eaten a lot in the past without gaining weight with sports somehow i eat less. Not a lot less. I wonder if i added swimming and lifting to my routine will i gain weight or even lose weight? I am ripped at 5% bf. All i do now is run 3 hours a week.

I was thinking of running 5 hours a week swimming double of that and lifting 3 hours a week.

Would i gain some weight or even lose more? I usually eat until i feel full. Plan on making the meals more healthy though.

What is your experience with muscle gain, do you have to force yourself to eat more to gain weight or does it come with stimuli (lifting).

I’ll skip the question of why you want to gain weight, as skinnier/leaner is faster.

So right now, you are running 3 hrs a week
and you ask, if I run 5 hrs a week, swim 10, and lift for 3…
the first problem is swimming 0 hrs a week and jumping up to 10 hrs a week is a really good way to get a shoulder injury.

The second problem is that more exercise, chances are, will not make you gain weight. (then again, swimming often makes people ravenous)

The last time I had to gain weight, I ran an hour each day and lifted for an hourish, 5x a week. Lifting was critical to that - just plain running and eating more, I didn’t gain an ounce. Somehow adding lifting helped me. To answer your second question, I had to work really hard to add more calories - I drank a lot of them. Juice, soymilk, Carnation Instant breakfast.

Hope that helps.
