I just read about his type of race from a book I am reading about maths.
Get a group of runners together at a track. Get a six sided die. Now have someone not in the race roll the die. That number will be how many more times the roller will roll the die. Roll again and that number will be the number of laps the runners will run first. Right before the first runner finishes the laps roll again and that will be the new number of laps. Repeat until rolls are done. First across the line wins.
Here is an example:
The pre roll is 3. The die will be rolled 5 times during the race.
I can’t say I’ve ever done anything remotely like this, but just thinking about it…wouldn’t this just degenerate into everyone running at the same pace until the last roll? If each roll were a separate race, that would make more sense, wouldn’t it?
