So with Calipari going to Kentucky, several of his recruits are either following him, or considering it. Listening to sports radio this morning, apparently a lot of people feel strongly (one way or the other) about allowing kids to follow a coach to another school after they’ve comitted to, or been recruited by a school.
Any thoughts?
From my perspective, if the kid has signed a contract with the school (i.e. play basketball in exchange for tuition, room, and board) then that’s a binding contract, like any other. However, short of something legally binding like that, it seems to me that a kid should be able to go to whatever school he wants and that will accpet him, including following a coach if the coach heads to another school.
