I was going to post that link too; Craig is a very creative guy and I really like his ideas on this one.
It’s certainly easier to ship a bunch of components minus the built frames from both a bulk and weight standpoint. I sure hope this thing catches fire (the idea I mean, not the bamboo frames themselves;-)
For the poor? It’s a $3,100 frame! Does anyone have/ridden one?
This thing is pretty cool.
Amazing Vibration Damping - Even better than Carbon fiber! High performance frame. Weighs about 4 pounds but has good stiffness. Crash tolerant. Bamboo is a lot of tougher than most people realize. 10 year warranty

I just got the latest bicycling magazine and he has an article in there. Very cool project.
I think that bike in the picture is Ken Runyan’s of Boise, Idaho. He swears by the thing (it got him to Kona, so you gotta wonder).

Did you read the article?
We’re not talking about the high-end ones for enthusiasts.
No I couldn’t read the article… it must have been removed.
Pretty much him and a team went out there to teach them how to use bamboo to make bikes since there’s plenty there. It’s not one of those high end ones which is treated with special stuff that will make the bike last, etc. It says it will eventually get messed up from bugs and stuff.
I see. Sorry glitch I honestly thought you were joking around when I stumbled on the price list.
Here’s a webpage for the project.
And another news site that has the story.

I also like the idea and this project. Sure it wouldn’t really cost much to mass produce frames and ship them there but he mentioned how this will help their local economy through job creation. Way cool!
No worries! I’m glad to see this thread back at the top again.
I still don’t know how practical the idea is, but it’s nice to see someone looking into ways to make a difference.
