Calf Size?

Looking at ordering a pair of 2XU Calf Compression Sleeves, i thought i had pretty good sized calves, but according to size chart, i’d wear an XS !! My calves are like 13.5 inches, ~ 35mm. How does that compare, especially to anybody that already has a pair of these. Thanks !

No socks, but my calves are 15.5"

Save the Money, most of these “compression” sock 2XU and Skins have does not provide with proper compression. I have purchased the 2XU and the Skins (long tights and short tights ) and nothing worked, my calves were still tight and cramping up. Until for IMAZ I wore CEP compression. They are medical grade compression which there is different levels of compression thoughtout the legs. (more compression towards the achilles and it decreses as it moves toward the calves.) and it works. Everytime I have a hard tempo run or a long run(above 15 miles) I wear them.

They are made in Germany. here is the site link. the only downfall is that they are $60 a pair. But for me it was money well spent.

the site is in german, but there is link you can click to make it in english on the upper left.

yes they are overrated (the marketing gimmick companies)…all these companies trying to make big bucks with huge profit margins. I use the ones which are used in hospitals and are called TED hoses (calf high and thigh high) and they are the best. I get them for free!

x2 on the CEP- full sock= better overall support. I also save mine for longer or faster runs and have been calf injury free since I started using. could be a coincidence but I’m not tempting fate.

are we on the same page ? i’m talking about “compression sleeves” which i assumed would be considerably stronger than any form of sock…

John

ok, you got 2" on me in calves, just curious, i’m 6’2" / 170; how much of calf size diff is body-type, etc ?

Randy

Hey rrfr,

didn’t mean to confuse you. We are on the same page. You mentioned that you were looking into compression calf sleeves, and in my opinion you should save the money and go for the compression sock.

Im pretty sure compression socks are way stronger than any sleeves. If you think about it, after pounding on your feet some blood circulation from it, make sense…

I’m 5’-8". My calves are 14 3/4"

I have been thinking about getting a pair of compression socks for recovery but with 18" claves, I have not been very lucky in finding a pair that fit very well.

6 foot even, 210lbs and 17in calves.

I wouldn’t be too offended about needing the XS compression sock size. Keep in mind compression socks are meant for people with circulation problems and/or obesity. Both groups have much much larger calves than even the strongest athlete.

I’m 5’10", 180. Much different build, apparently.

6’ 250lbs 25in calf and 4.5% BF. Oh, wait that was Mr. Olympia…Crap. Back to the weight room.

All I know is that my calves aren’t big enough to be impressive yet.

5’10" at 167 pounds the calves are 16" even. Interesting thread. Makes me want to see a quad to calf ratio thread.

Wait, I may have measured the wrong thing

6’2". 185 lbs. 16.5" calves. I’ve been told that I have big calves. I’d actually prefer smaller ones, at least for triathlon/time-trialing. I’m convinced they are slowing me down aerodynamically without adding anything to the power equation. If that’s not a concern, you could always get calf implants à la Johnny Drama on Entourage.
