when running today got a nice yucca dagger into my lower leg.
Not sure I got the tip out and it was a tad sore during the run.
still is a bit.
how can you know the bugger’s out? anything to do? just put an
antibiotic ointment on it.
in the duathlon last week in Phoenix, I clipped one of those damn things with the knuckle of my right hand. It broke the skin and that knuckle has been swollen a little, and sore ever since, even now, a week later it still hurts.
Francois! Were you trying to solve differential equations in your head while running again? I told you, don’t do that! I only work on group theory while running or cycling, and I have never had a bad encounter with a cactus.
Keep it algebraic.

Damn Francois, keep it together just for another 2 weeks, OK?!?!?! :-p
I did the same thing at the duathlon only on my right knee. Still tender and red.
Algebra is much more difficult than solving differential equations (even hyperbolic partial ones)…
so the thing is my wife (who probably forgot I have that tendency to be hypochondriac…hmmm) said, did you disinfect it? because you hadn’t had a shot for tetanus in a while now…
not sore this am, and doesn’t look infected either.
I like to stress you! ![]()

Dear Francois, you DO realize that lack of symptoms is the first sign of tetanus, don’t you? When you begin to have twitches, fasiculations, then cramps, take comfort in remembering we all were glad to have known you. ;-D
Glad you seem to have gotten the end of the thing out. Have a good upcoming race!
yeah yeah yeah! ![]()
got a shot anyway…11 years since the last one.
You doing IM Tumble-Weed, Francois?
You could move to the Great White North.
tea-tree oil, the best natural disinfectant aroiund
quick story: I was super-gluing something when my hand slipped and my fingers got stuck together. Nothing would unglue them, then I pulled out the tea-tree oil and BINGO BANGO they released. Tea-tree oil - a natural wonder.
