CA 70.3 anyone?

I am organizing Friday night dinner for my clients, their adoring fans and some friends…want to join us? I need to get a final headcount so that I can adjust my reservation.

Friday morning I always swim at LaJolla then head to the Potato Shack in Encinitas for pancakes. We’ll probably swim about 9.

Not at all sure that I’ll be racing as I am dealing with a glute/hamstring issue that has me thinking the run might end up a walk. :frowning:

I can’t do Friday night, but will definitely stop by LJ on the way up from the airport! Sorry to hear about the leg. Hope it heals up.

I will also be there volunteering and cheering!!! I live in North SD County (long time resident), directly inland from Oceanside.

I’m nearly 50 years old and you’d think I’d have learned from my mother by now…cold and wet is not a good combination. Two dozen marathons, half dozen halves plus a full IM, but none starting out cold and wet.

Anyway, I’ll be testing out my new neoprene cap to match my old wetsuit ~ 9 on Friday.

Somebody dope-slap me please.

Thank you for posting. What do you wish you had worn out of T1 in 20-20 hindsight? I am not so afraid of the water as I am spending the rest of the day with cold, wet hair and clothes. Would you pull on a long-sleeve shirt or jacket to later remove?

What would you do advise me to wear out of T1 that would increase my chance of having a good experience? I want to be comfortable more than I want to be aero in this race. Like you, I won’t be back if I’m too cold.

Honestly, it was the cold water. I just can’t deal with the cold water. Plus, it was raining lightly that morning and standing in the line up for 30 minutes, I was shivering even with the wetsuit fully on. For the ride, I was probably overdressed, but my feet were frozen and there wasn’t much you could do about that.
