I know this logic works for running shoes. A lot of people buy an extra pair of shoes of the ones they like in case they are discontinued or whatever.
Would you do this for a bike frame?

There’s quite a $$$ diference from running shoes and bike frames. If i trashed a bike frame, I’d probably be on ebay looking for another one. Either that or replace the whole bike.
If it was, in fact, the perfect frame…
No way. The whole fun of getting a new bike is getting something different. Just a new frame is no joy. I have a huge list of frames I’d like to build up if I can only get JohnA or some other rich guy to back over my Stealth…
I can always have a frame made to my geometry by any one a dozen great builders. Unfortunately I can’t find a company that will build a running shoe to my specs.
yes…I have twin Zipp 2001’s, setup exactly the same!! One for training and one for racing OR when on breaks I don’t panic, I just pull out the other. This way I can take my time fixing the bike.
I have more bikes then I do running shoes…or for that matter swim suits!!

I hate you!
CE,
It took a woman in a Toyota for me to get the exact same frame… She lives in Walnut Creek, drives up and down the Blvd. all the time. I’m sure if you spend enough time going back and forth between Walnut Creek and Danville you will run in to her - or, em, she will run in to you…

I’ll keep an eye out for her, but I’d prefer someone with a Mercedes or a Beemer!!
After you’ve been in Tri’s for 15 years and are 50 years old, you can have all the toys you want, too!! : )…Oh, and a really nice wife!! She likes my bikes almost as much as I do. My Zipp 2001’s and my Trek 5200 are sitting in the living room!!!
My wife has said many many times that if I ever leave any of my bikes in the driveway, she will run them over in her car! She HATES me doing triathlon and the money it costs.
I am an ex ski pro and have a collection of old skiis, including some old wooden ones before steel edges were even thought of. I wanted to put them above the fire place in our house, along with some wooden snowshoes I have and my fathers old ice axe. NOT A CHANCE she said.
I also have an old QR bike that I’m fixing up as a museum bike (all 80’s and early 90’s gear on it, incl 7 speed cassette) I was hoping to hang that on the wall as an art piece/ museum display. NOT A CHANCE she said.
Maybe instead of getting rid of my much beloved collection, I should just get a new wife?
I can only IMAGINE what a supportive wife would be like
Dude, your wife is doing you a huge favor! I hope if I ever decide to hang a bike on a wall as a piece of art that my wife knocks some sense in to me. Everyone knows that a classic bike belongs in a display case, in the middle of the room, surrounded by velvet ropes!
My wife says the skiis may look really nice over the fireplace in the family room. She’s my color coordinator for bar tape, shoes, helmets, decals, etc. I may not be fast but she makes me look good everyday I ride.
BTW - I’m former National Ski Patrol. Got paid to ski for 5 years. I broke my Valants (stainless steel caps)on the last run of the last day of work. I then moved to Florida.
We’re re-doing the living room shortly. I’ll suggest the jewellery case for the bike, to her. Here’s hoping.
If I don’t post here ever again, you can take it that she thought the jewellery case was yet another bad tridork idea!
Seems we have a lot in common. Skiing, triathlon and so on.I too have moved to a warm ski-less climate…just without all the old people
I believe that the slowest riders should have the coolest bikes. The pro’s go by so fast that no-one can see what they are riding. I (slow fat bastard) ride by so slowly that the spectators have ample time to examine my bike in detail. That is why I have my P2K custom painted and beautifully colour co-ordinated. I do need a new red helmet as my old one is fading a bit and it clashes with the fire engine red of my bike.
Red, black and touches of white, are my racing/ particpating colours and I look great in them. Fat but great
