Looking for recommendations on new bike and where to go to buy, ready to migrate to a tri position and be a bit more efficient. Currently ride road bike. Can. R5000. Have a budget of $5000. Living in North East Indiana. Have gotten recommendations to go see Tom D. in Mich. Do I spend the majority on the bike or half on bike and better wheels? Looking for ideas. Thanks.
For $5K you should have to make very few comprimises.
I would deff talk to Tom.D, check into cervelo, felt, QR just ot name a few. for that price range you can get a great bike, wheels, and prob still have some left over/

Get fit and if the numbers allow go for…CERVELO, CERVELO, CERVELO, CERVELO, CERVELO, CERVELO, CERVELO, CERVELO!
Get a decent bike (don’ spend it all here) and leave money for some good wheels. Save the rest for upgrades.
I just went to TT bike and wheels this year and it is amazing the difference in speed and energy savings. Nice that you have the budget of 5K to spend, you can’t go wrong.
I bought the Cervelo P2C and had 303/404 Zipp’s built for less than you have budgeted.

My advice is go get fit up at a LBS… test ride, test ride, test ride, then go to the classified section here or E-bay and save youself $$$$$$ buying used!! I picked up a USED P3C with 909 and 404 zipps for under $4000 Perfect condition. Good Luck!
