Will do first chance I get.

I don’t mean to derail your thread, but has anyone read ‘Sub 4:00’ (about Alan Webb) and ‘Running With the Buffaloes’?

Didn’t really like ‘Sub 4:00’. Kind of a shallow book with no point.

RWTB was great except he couldn’t really convey sadness in a certain part of the book. The author just couldn’t get it across (and I’m affected by books - Gold in the Water had my mood changing all throughout the book, but in RWTB I was like meh).

Running with the Bufaloes is really good. Not as much as Gold in the water but really good. Better than this is The Greatest.

Thanks for the suggestion iron mike. Any one else has readed it?

I got this book for my birthday. It is awesome! In the section about the authors it mentions that the book is being developed into a motion picture by the same people who did Seabiscuit. That will probably be a great movie.

My perfect mile has been more like the Green Mile!!! Thanks for the heads up and it sounds like a good one!!!

Other good reads if you liked “The Perfect Mile”:

  1. Bannister’s “The Four Minute Mile.” A new edition released for the 50th anniversary of his feat. Surprisingly well written (for a doctor).

  2. “The Perfect Distance” about the Coe-Ovett rivalry.

yeah - the idea that it’s being made into a movie is fascinating. hopefully they go big budget rather than ‘made-for-tv’, but at the same time i really hope the story doesn’t get too hollywooded: all the elements for a great drama are there without tinkering with them and having the guys fight for the love of gweneth paltrow or something.

as for bannister’s book, i’ve heard it’s brilliant but have yet to buy it. technically i have a thesis to write at the moment and shouldn’t be into all this ‘fiction’ anyway, but god it’s more interesting than medical anthropology!
