Butter vs. margarine

OK, I hardly use any margarine as is, but was debating if I should pitch the stuff and just use unsalted butter in its place.

Pros? cons?

How many people still use margarine? am I in the dark ages here?

AP

PS: Just making a grilled cheese, avo + tomato sammy, so it got me thinking…

I use i can tbelieve its not butter spray. I love it.

The ‘Smart Balance Omega Plus’ spread is pretty darn good. And, it is has no trans fats and is supposed to increase our HDL. AND, the plant sterols have been shown to reduce cholesterol modestly.

Try using KY Jelly, much better than both butter & margarine.

It would be some work, but I could make my own butter out of milk.

If I wanted to make my own margarine, I would have to find a way to manipulate vegitable oil at the molecular level (to make partially hydroginated v.o.)

Hmmmm, pass the butter please!

Brett

That stuff is actually good for you. If it has hydroginated fat in it, stay away. if you have no cholesteral issues, just eat the butter in moderate amounts.

Why don’t you do your own research. Just google it and spend the time to read. It is just easier to ask people to digest the inforamtion for you I suppose. Use the KY Jelly, it will do you good.

depends for what…

I think Marlon Brando used butter.

Did I just write this??

What do you use when you knock that smart coach?

Butter here. I just think the body knows how to handle it. I know… That’s a debate that I’m not going to get into on this forum. But trans-fats… No gonna go there.

Damn skippy, plus I knew at some point this thread would devolve into a lube thread. That’s some cheap-ass entertainment right there, Sparky!

Whipped Land o Lakes Butter. Natural (as opposed to the oils that make margarine) and it tastes good.

Unfortunately, we’re out of it, and I just had to spread margarine over my English Muffins instead. GRRRR. Grocery shopping tomorrow.

How do you get your girlfriend to stop smoking? Slow down and use KY.

land o lakes, unsalted butter. a little goes a long long way–it’s very gratifying. make sure it’s unsalted sweet cream. salt can act like a preservative, and who needs that in butter.

there are some good organic butters as well (my favorite butter though is land o lakes, they’ve perfected it!)

margarine is weird. as a foodslut, you most certainly should ditch the marg…it’s shit, most foodies would agree

.

Depends on what you’re doing…

I use Olive Oil for “frying” chicken breasts, then Molly McButter to flavor veggies. This stuff rocks…

Like I wrote, I almost never use it. Hubby uses it more than I do.

I’ll have to try one of the local organic butters…

A-Pants… butter for sure.

Thanks man.

Magarine is soft right outa the ice box ,butter is a pain. dont eat much of either.
