Business Trip to Calgary -- Where to run?

I’ve got a quick business trip to Calgary in a couple of days, and I’m looking for a good place to run in the afternoon/evening or early morning. I’m staying downtown, and I won’t have a rental car, so anything scenic close by? I’m looking to get about 8 miles in.

Also, any tips on good restaurants to help me show off to my potential client?

Thanks

I don’t know, but you may want to put some shorts on before you do.

I can’t make any guarantees. . .

Calgary has an awesome trail system along the Bow River and accessable from downtown. You can run for miles and miles. Lots of wildlife and river scenery along the way (birds, beavers, etc.). One of the best places to travel and run I’ve been to. Last time I was there I ran 20 miles and didn’t come close to the end.

Cowtippers is right…if you are staying downtown, just run towards the Bow River (which should be very close)…head west or east and you can run for miles. There are several opportunities to cross the river and run on the north side as well. If you want to venture further, connect onto the Elbow River pathway…and it also extends for miles.

Thanks for the help, guys. I’m very much looking forward to it.

Assuming you are at a downtown hotel, head up 3rd St to the Eau Claire YMCA right by the river. No more than a few minutes from any hotel. Inside they have a map on the wall with all the riverside pathway runs complete with mileage. Running west is nicer than running east. Whatever run you do, finish it off by running the stairs or hill up the north side of the river valley and you’ll not only figure out your MHR but get a nice view of the mountains.

You can buy a day pass and workout/swim at the Y as well.

Restaurants: also in the area of the Y is the River Cafe which is on the island, accessed only by walking and has great food and ambiance – eminently client worthy.
