My Yahoo! news reported Bush trending up in the polls following the last debate.
My guess is that a lot of people vocal about the debates and also voting on on line polls are the “rock star” college crowd who make a lot of election noise but actually don;t vote. One thing about Bush supporters, they tend to be the silent group.
Kerry’s camp seems to really be making a lot of noise, getting college kids excited, etc. The whole Kerry/Michael Moore association has probably hurt him with adults, who give Moore little real credibility.
Moore just did a college tour in Michigan and was received by the kids here as an icon. I think adults regard him as dubious at best.
I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t vote the way Michael Moore instructs us to vote.
His next movie will go after the large pharmaceutical companies. For some reason, I doubt he will ever go after the large fast food places (he will continue going in to the fast food places…)
He should make a movie about manipulative, quasi-“independent”, alterna-teen propoganda media moguls. He could call it an autobiography.
Zogby this morning showed Dubya up by the same amount. His poll showed a four point shift away from Kerry starting from the morning after the debate.
What people don’t realize is that Kerry is a good debater. By that, I mean his technical ability to speak, argue, rebut and present a competent appearance are better than Bush’s. But, why are some people surprised by that? Most everybody with half a brain these last four years knew that about the Prez already.
So, if you looked at the internals, after the debate, you would have seen that the majority of the people STILL trusted Bush more on leadership, ability to win the war on terrorism and other issues. Kerry may have “won” the debate, but his arguments weren’t enough to overcome Bush, who only had to not totally screw up and blow it on national television.
Also, I think the big cheap shot that Kerry took about Cheney’s daughter backfired and fired up Bush/Cheney’s base even more. It was indeed Machiavellian what Kerry did (try to scare off the evangelicals who may not have known that Cheney’s daughter was a lesbian), but it hasn’t paid off yet.
Also, him claiming on national t.v. that homosexuality is completely genetic and that you have no free will in the matter, is again logically inconsistent, and tells a lot of people out there that we have no unique human qualities and are no better than any other animal who acts by pre-programmed instinct.
Ridiculous.
