Exactly how do they go about paying the salary of the Air force Colonel who’s piloting the plane, and the various govt. employees that are involved with maintaining, fueling, staffing, protecting, etc, the multiple planes and cars that go along with the Presdient wherever he goes? I’m pretty sure that the govt pays for his travel. I’ve got no problem with that by the way.
When you raise 8 gazillion dollars for the election campaign, can’t you fund that? Secret Service aside - that should come with the job.
I’m not sure I would be OK with the incumbent financing campaign travel with government money. I’m sure Kerry (well his campaign or the DNC or something related) pays for his travel.

My friend works for Champion Air and another is a flight attendant in the Air Force for those big-wig goverment flights.
So…
John Kerry is currently using an Air Force owned jet flying with Air Force personnel.
John Edwards is flying with Champion Air on one of their NBA Charter Jets using Champion Air staff.
No clue is picking up the bill though…
I think the rational is that the cost of protecting the prez and nominee is a public expense.
