Hey,
Would someone be willing to post the tubular mounting guide authored by our long-eared compatriot?
Thanks,

I can’t remember exactly what bunnyman does (he knows his stuff though) but here’s a way that works for me.
http://www.vittoria.com/bikeshop.html
the only things I’d add are to wear disposable rubber gloves, wear old clothes and mask the sides of my rims with electrical tape.
3M adhesive remover works well to take little blobs off the rims too.
Richard
I use it, printed it out months ago but dont have the digital version, works for carbon rims too minus the sandpaper.
There is also great tubular advice on nimbles’ website: www.nimble.net Click on tubular tire advice. Its on the right under Recent Web Updates. They also have info on the new tubular tape as well as reasons to choose tubulars over clinchers. Also, if you have any questions, David at Nimble is more than happy to answer any questions you have. He returns **all **calls.
Wow, the bunster knows his stuff when it comes to tires. You have a friend named Echo? This is basically how we do it, always works for us.
Thanks for the kudos.
No friends named Echo, but they were a fine band…
I credit my knowlege of tubular mounting to a few things: a website that chroncled a University study, other places on the Internet, and an old mechanic who had taught me who spoke very broken English ("You are not going to ze rusting, ugly seat tube vith zat seat post mounting, ARE YOU!?! You must rheam zat tube vith the reamer tooling, get ze rusting out of there, you’ll never get from zat seat tube the post. Grease onto ze seat post…), God rest his soul. He could mount a tubular without one drop geting onto the braking surface and no gloves. He was a STUD.
Thanks a lot to everyone for the replies and ideas. I am a tubular newbie entirely. This weekend I will attempt to mount some conti sprinters onto my new (at least, to me) hed three and hed deep.
But first, I need to find some valve extenders.
Thanks again,
Philbert
Vittoria mentions to let them stretch for 2 weeks, which I thought was excessive. I’ve let them sit overnight , without too much trouble, the more the better I’m sure. I did a conti sprinter letting it sit an hour once then proceded and my neighbor stopped by because they thought a homicide was in progress.(murder by wheel)Be prepared to muscle up for that last stretch though…and don’t use 3m Fasttack…and for people that are concerned about this being such a pain in the arse, I do 30 bike races a year and glue tubies twice a year, no big deal and dude your gonna love those sprinters.
I’m not sure what length your valve stems are but Hed 3’s don’t require a long valve stem because of the cutout on the side.
Richard
No, I know about the Hed3. I need one for the Jet Deep (90) rear. The stem does not reach the hole in the fairing!
