Building a green house

How much do you think I could save by building my new house with all the latest green technology? I’m at the Jersey shore. ( not Seaside Heights)
Here are some possibilities:

Solar panels on the roof.
Heat pumps for AC ( do they still use them? )
All the latest E glass.
Macerator for garbage (compost )
Rainwater storage tank for the garden and the lawn

Any other ideas?

Tankless water heater.
Grass roof

no phones, no lights, no motor-cars…

One more idea Jim buy your flowers at the florist. It is a hell of a lot easier ;0)

Read about the GWB house in Crawford,TX if you want to get really green:

.

I like it. I didn’t like him as president but I do like his house. 300’ deep is a little too far for me. I hit water at 20".

I wonder how much it takes to “purify” the toilet water?..

I don’t know, but it seems like the kind of place you’d want to live if the shit hits the fan. Is this to be a stilt house? One thing you should have plenty of is wind, so if a smallish home windmill is possible, that could be a winner in a coastal setting.

There will be plenty of bullshit flying around that’s for sure. I used to see a few windmills in the neighborhood but none the last few years. You would think that a windmill would work there but there must be a reason there are none. Maybe we will be the first to start a new trend. Anybody have windmill stock to sell?

I would like to build a “north Carolina” type house if possible, on pilings. Ground floor has parking and storage and an elevated utility room. And an elevator.
( for Gram and me after all these triathlons ) First floor ( 9’ above grade ) has bedrooms and bathrooms. Second floor has kitchen and family room. Third floor has master bedroom. Decks on three sides of the top 2 floors. Lots of glass. ( I know that’s not very green but too bad, the views will be great) All I need is money and a building permit.
