Wrench gurus:

Building my first road bike from scratch, and I just realized I don’t have any spacers. Or that little thing that the headset top cap screws into. Which brought up: what goes inside the fork and how do I get it? And where do I get spacers?

Anything else I should know about in that area? Thanks!

local bike shop. just need to know the diameter of the steerer (1" or 1 and 1/8") for the spacers

for the bit that goes inside - it depends on the fork. in the old days it was always a star nut. in the new days sometimes it is a compression plug. once again - LBS =)

he meant 1 1/8"
