Build / LBS Question

I have got a new frame, that I ‘put together’ myself, just enough to get contact points sorted, & enough of a rolling chassis to get it to a shop.

There are some things that I don’t have the capacity or time to do (chain, RD, cutting carbon seatpost), so I need a shop’s help.

Question is, the shop that I usually go to does not sell this particular brand of bike.

Should I go to a shop that deals in this brand, so they’ll be more familiar with it, or go to my usual shop, because a bike is a bike is a bike?

The frame in question is a Transition, if that matters.

Thx.

Unless you’re talking about a very high end technical bike (like the shiv, p4, SC) that deals with wonky internal cabling (which you are not)…then a bike is a bike is a bike…

kinda what i thought. i figured they’re all essentially the same concept, with minor torque / tweak differences.

thanks.

Get a hacksaw and cut the seatpost yourself.

Doesn’t help me put on a chain, FD/RD, and get access to a bunch of stems to find one that helps the fit, all in short order.

Just go to any good shop and they can do it. The one exception I’ve seen is roadie shops that do a lousy job with internally routed cables; IME specialty tri shops are much better with this.
