Buffalo Springs?

Anybody doing Buffalo Springs this weekend?

Rusty

I’m going to Lubbock for the Tri - Raider Sprint. I’ll be standing at the swim exit yelling at all the people from Albuquerque doing the 1/2 since it starts earlier.

I will be doing it for the 4th time. Awesome race and it looks to be a scorcher as usual. Good Luck!

I saw a forecast that the temp will be upper 90’s low 100’s. Ouch

Yep this will be my 3rd one. The heat, wind, and hills makes it one of the most challenging 1/2s in the country (IMO). If you haven’t it before, be prepared for extreme heat from miles 5-8 on the run - toughest part of the course for me.

I had my heat and hills race already completed this year. I did the KKT a few weeks back. This will be my third time doing Buff Springs and it can’t compare to the heat and hills (and wind) we experienced in Kona this year.

Anyone know what happened? Times make it look like a shortened course.

I raced it. The weather seemed cooler to me than what was predicted.

Was there a shortened course or aqua bike division? Results page has a lot of 3:30 times???

No according to my watch everything was the correct distance. Those times do look funky though. Not sure what happened. My time is correct.

Those are aqua bike times. For some reason they have the results all together. First place was around 4:08.

Yes, the aquabikers are lumped into the overall and take much of the top 20 results. Clay Emge was the top overall. The course was the same as last year, except the bike course which was similar to prior years in both gain and chip seal misery.

Overall, the conditions were as good as they have been there in years with decent temps and wind that was strong but sort of favorable.
