Blank check…what wheels would you ride at Lubbock Buffalo Springs Half?
Disc and H3 front. There are a couple hills but nothing significant, go aero not light.
Also consider, although it would probably not effect the wheel choice but maybe tire and inflation choices, the roads range from rough to crappy. For some long stretches I had to focus on just getting over the road and not on racing. Maybe I’m just spoiled by the good road conditions that I train on, but if I ever do BSLT again I’ll consider wider tires and lower pressures. I’m skipping it this year in large part due to the poor roads.
The hills are ridiculously steep but also very short and far between. Definitely take aero over weight. There was only 1 downhill with a cross wind that I even noticed and that included an aerodrink in front as well.

“if no wind” You’re kidding, right??? ![]()
IMO, Zipp 909 w/ 22mm Conti Sprinter or Competition tires. The road surface is not ideal, and you want to be as aero as possible, but there is no need to race with heavy wheels. Go aero and light.
Have a great race. The Greers and their team put on one heck of a race. The year I went there the road was literally melting and the tar was coming up through the chip. The soles of my shoes came unglued. But I loved every step of it. Ice every half mile on the run even for those of us slowed to a shuffle.
