Bruising to toe nail on long runs? Why and how to avoid?

I know, I hate feet too, but here’s the deal:

On any run longer than 15 miles the toe nail next to my big toe on my left foot is very bruised.

My shoes are not too small - tried that and same thing still happened.

Any ideas? Any help, as always, greatly appreaciated.

(For those who hate feet, sorry about the horrible subject matter!!)

Maybe they’re too loose - if you’re foot slips forward a bit at the end of every step that may account for the bruising - try (evenly) tightening your laces from the front of the shoe all the way back and maybe that’ll help.

  • Good luck

I’ll try it - many thanks

Losing toenails is just a part of running that we all learn to deal with. Wear the mark of a runner with pride.
