Broward Cnty, FL (Markham Park) Bike Path

Can and anybody confirm or deny whether there is a bike path suitable for road riding that leaves from Markham Park and travels parallel to SR84? How long is the path? Is it good for a road bike?

Thanks.

There is no bike “path” on the section of SR84 that heads west. There is one that heads east but I am not sure how far and it would not be that great for road riding because it has bumps and roots in it.

Going west there is a bike lane with no intersections that cross the westbound section. I would guess the distance from Weston Road (Markham Park) to Glades Parkway to be about 3 miles.

There is also a great road inside Markham that is good for road riding and the streets around Weston are superb with the new pavement and huge bike lanes. Drivers seem more courteous there when it is NOT rush hour.

Do you know what time Markham opens in the morning?

I am heading down to Plantation (5 min from Markham Park) for Christmas tomorrow morning - is Weston a good place to ride then? Any other places anyone can recommend to ride around there?

I’ll probably bring my mountain bike as well, because the trails in Markham Park are some of the most fun trails I’ve ever ridden. Good place to get bloody. : )

lots of good riding around Weston, check out: Weston Flyers website for maps and routes, you might hook up with them, I know they have rides that leave the town center but call and confirm

.

Perfect, thank you! I assume they frown on tri bikes riding with the groups?

It is pretty much always open if you are on a bike. But officially it is from sunup to sundown.

There is no better riding than Weston!!

You can ride with the Flyers on a tri-bike - just don’t use the aero bars.
