Brick--considered "hard" workout

Does tossing a 20 minute run after an endurance pace bike ride constitute a “hard” running day? Can a brick be an ok sort of junky recovery workout, or is it too tough on the legs for that? I’d like to bump up my running miles a little and throwing a couple these in a week seems like a good way to do so, but I don’t want to just train myself to be slow running, I have already mastered that.

i try to get a 5-15 min run in after every ride if i can. only works about half the time but it will help a lot come race day and a few min of running if you build into it will only help.

To answer yer first Q - no, not necessarily.

A t-run can be as hard or easy as you want it to be.

I think they are great ‘bang for the training time buck’, since you are already warmed up, dressed, sweaty, etc, so doing a 2-4m run after a ride is an easy way to add run frequency and volume.

But no, if you are cruising along easy in say z1, then it’s not a hard workout.
If you are hitting z3 on the other hand, then that’s a pretty solid run off the bike.
