Quit blamming everyone.
I have read nearly every posting about Katrina and you have nothing to say except for blame and contempt for everyone.
Yes, some bad things have happened, some people walked off the job, looting has happened, ignorence rained, delays are happening. And I can’t think right now of what else you mention.
Those two cops in the video basically looting and telling the reporter that they are doing their jobs aren’t cops, but people with a toy badge, and they should have never been police officers. And yes some might have left the job,(we don’t know that yet, they haven’t been found) and some of them are probably dead. And yes some of the ones that stayed probably looted, food and water and maybe even ammo to keep themselves and their fellow police officers alive while they held the city.
But did you see the face of anger in the officers eyes when they heard of their own running out on them. They talk of nearly 500 off the job, or missing. Well of the 1600 officers, they are not all at work at once. Probably half were off shift when Katrina hit. Some died in their homes. You don’t know the facts. I don’t know the facts. NO is no picnic city. It was bad before the storm. Did you think Katrina would clean everyone up?
And as for the officers who stayed. You try keeping the peace when you have no car, radio communications, ammo, a place to keep the bad guys, and people who really could care less about your life. Did you forget about the lady who walked up to the cop and shot him in the head. The two officers who just broke down after everything, and after finding his entire family dead in their destroyed home took their own lives. Could you do better???
What would you like the firefighters to do? Some have no fire stations, equipement, not to mention food, water, resources. I am a firefighter and I can tell you without our tools there is a lot that just can’t be done. You think there is helicopters and boats just sitting in the back of the station to be taken out. Wake up son!!!

I can’t even remember all the crap you threw up on this site. And I am just losing my thoughts in the pent up anguish I am feeling for people like you who have really no clue as to what it is like or could even begin to think what its like. So I will leave the remaining thoughts for the flame war that has just begun.
This whole thing was screwed up from the start. Rescue and life safety is what I do for a living. There was just no way to be ready for this. Here are just a few of the things that have happened to screw this whole thing up. And my brief thoughts about them.
FEMA: to slow. Who didn’t know this was coming. They should have had stuff on the ground before, outside the area ready to go. And then turning things around after the storm. Not to bright.
Bush: dog and pony show. Now they have firefighters escorting the man. What a waist of valuable resources. He talks a good game. I do believe though that he really does care about the people. He just has the wrong people doing things and doesn’t have a focus.
Mayor: throws a good blame job, but where were the buses moving his people out of the city before the strom. He is pretty passionate about what is happening. I first thought he had his shit together as well, but the more I hear, I wonder. Why did he run. Guilliani stayed with the police and firefighters to stay in his city. I will give you the fact that NY was not flooded, and that they did not know it was going to happen.
Gov. Waited to long to order the evac. before the storm, took a night to sleep on it after being offered help from Bush. And just plain doesn’t get it. She does not inspire people.
Brown: he is a mess. Any one for a horse show??? “We just didn’t know that people were in the dome”. Thats funny I did, and I live in Seattle. Is it any wonder that we don’t see him on tv. He will be gone after this is over. He will just fade away.
General Honore: that guy has his shit together. Coming in a shutting down the media BS, tell his troops and cops to drop their weapons that this is a rescue mission not Iraq. He just plain gets it. He should really be running this whole show. But maybe you have something bad to say about him too.
