Former Green Bay Packers/New York Jets/Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre completed a triathlon in Gulf Shores, Alabama over the weekend, coming in third in his division.

Favre and his wife Deana both competed in the shortened sprint course at the Brett Robinson Alabama Coastal Triathlon. The course includes a 300 yard swim followed by a 10 mile bike rid and a two mile run, which the 44-year old future Hall of Famer finished in one hour and three minutes including a two minute penalty.

Favre competed under the name “Brett Lorenzo” in an effort to keep the crowds away, but now the secret is out, so look for Brett Lorenzo at a triathlon near you!

Any idea what his penalty was for?

Pretty cool to hear about him racing!

Pretty cool, but 1:03 for that length? What was his division, aging quarterbacks that unretired more than twice?

I thought the same thing

I guess he had to since they were already calling him an Ironman.

Thanks for sharing and let’s hope he keeps it up!

Did I hear he is having concussion issues from football?
.

.

he has been at some local races before, but just as a spectator cheering on his wife (as far as I know).

Hadn’t heard anything but I guess I missed it because Google just found this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/18/brett-favre-concussions-nfl-memory-son_n_4297874.html.

As he says in that article he played so long that it’s not surprising. It would probably be more surprising if he didn’t have any.

To me the wake-up call was Deanna and I were talking recently, and she was talking about Breleigh, our youngest, playing soccer," Favre told Lauer. “I’ve pretty much made every game that she’s ever played (in) basketball, volleyball. She played softball one year, she played basketball a couple years. As I find out, she played soccer. I don’t remember her playing soccer. She played right over here, and that was probably where my first inclination that something ain’t right.”

He was a cyldesdale racer in a super sprint, 300yd/10mi/2mi. I was there racing the olympic and saw him in transition just chatting with someone, and most people knew he was there but no one really made a big deal about it. His wife does that race too, she’s done it a few times actually and got an overall 3rd this year.

Did they drug test him?

I remembered him being interviewed on TV saying he was starting to have memory issues. Since I have had 2 concussions in my life, has me a little concerned also.

I guess those that on their way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame are allowed to race under
a name other than their own.

Had one myself and it was a horrible experience but I’m sure he’s had at least 10 times as many. If you’re not having any issues now then it should hopefully not become an issue. Although to be safe you should write your ST password down somewhere.

Did they drug test him?
Lol!
I think it is funny he did the Clydesdale for a sprint. But that is awesome that he competed with the masses! And supports his wife in her athletic pursuits!

Nah, 2 concussions probably nothing to worry about. Plus, while he’s probably had more concussions, it’s a lifetime of mini knocks (like boxers) that adds up. The damage is cumulative, and it doesn’t fix itself.

What are the rules about completing in a triathlon under a fake name? Don’t they check Driver License’s for Insurance purposes for USAT?

Lorenzo is his middle name, so assuming it says that on his drivers license(and his desire for some privacy) I’m sure it wasn’t too much of an issue. But this was my first question as well.

They were in Huntsville three weeks ago for The Rocketman Olympic Distance. Brett did not race and his wife won her division.

He should have used the name Ron Mexico. Way funnier.
