Brent McMahon Bike Sponsor

As seen in the race day photos, he is covering up his Swift Carbon Neurogen bike. Curious as to what happened with the sponsorship as he switched from Blue to them in 2013.

Here is an article from his last change: “After a number of great years with Blue and helping build the brand they unfortunately decided not to bring me back on for 2013. This allowed me to seek out my new sponsor Swift Carbon who is stepping strongly into the US market after success in Europe and Asia. They make leading edge bikes in all avenues of cycling and as a result are a great fit for me. I know I will have a great TT, road and 29er mountain bike to race on no matter the format of triathlon I choose.”

Maybe his contract expired and he is negotiating? If so I’d say he has some better leverage after this weekend

Swift has been very quiet since then.

Sponsoring Drapac probably wipes their budget and puts Triathletes at the bottom of the priority list.
Which might be a good move if they can hold on to the team as they move up the ranks.

I hope someone steps up and helps him with a bike sponsorship as he is very well deserving.

Interview him and ask him about it.

Also the 3yr old adidas Bostons he was running in.
I gave my friend in sports marketing there a head’s-up, the guy can obviously run like crazy, he could be a good ambassador.

Brent is an amazing athlete and is an even better ambassador for a brand. We are very happy to be working with him!

He does have some hot irons in the fire and will probably have those stepped up now, after his amazing performance yesterday! As if he needed more ammo…

Jake

I know Brent was actively seeking a manager this fall. I am not sure if everything worked out and they came to an agreement or not but if so he’ll have a bike sponsor soon. Cervelo seems like a good fit. He has all the tools to do well and would be a great rep for any company.

But why not just leave the tape off the bike? None of us cover up our logo and we are not sponsored. By covering it up did it signal that he is looking for sponsorship?

You are not an IM champion pro. What bike you ride has no value to company X (except what you pay for the bike). He presumably thinks that it does.

can you think of a better way to announce one’s availability ?

On it already

Interview him and ask him about it.

He was sponsored by the bike company (can’t remember which) then they dropped him. Why should he continue to show their brand name to the world after they dropped him?

Thank you and. Reading it right now.
