Brand tally - bib 109 - attn slowman

Dan, check the brand for bib109. Karin Thuerig was riding a Univega.com stickered Wasler. I helped her pump up her tires and tried not to get too much drool on the athlete or machine. Since there is only one Univega in your count, but no Walser, this was probably the bike.

And what about all the Trek and Scott bikes made by Giant. And the Kuota, Specialized, Isaac, Kestrel etc. made by Martec? Cervelo made by …? At the end we have a list with 10 brands and the nr 1 bike from kona is not nr 1 anymore. Sorry, not possible in cervelos forum.

It’s called a “brand” tally, not “let’s trace the bikes to the production plant of origin” tally.

Do you really think there is an incentive to rebrand a Cervelo? I was under the impression that they don’t pay their athletes.

Do you have evidence that this has been done?

I don’t think the original point was to identify bikes that are manufactured by company A, sold to company B and sold under the company B name. Walsers are sold as Walsers- the one in question was simply re-badged. You’re getting more in to what company actually manufactures frames for multiple bike companies (you mention Martec). I have never seen a bike in the transition area labeled as a Martec, yet they sell thousands of bikes; they are sold under contract to companies like Giant or Isaac (and are built to the bike company’s specs).

Oh, and there are no Treks made by Giant. Yes, their lower-end aluminum bikes are made in Asia, but it isn’t by Giant. All their mid to high-end stuff (carbon included) is made in Wisconsin.

Hello, At least in the past some of their high end bikes were made by a certain Ti company in Chattanoga.

Styrrell

That would be UNHEARD of…I have never ever seen a repainted Ti bike from TN…never seen at Blade at a TT in the TdF either…

That was only a one-off job for Lance in the '99 Tour de France. Trek never sold any re-badged Litespeeds to the public.

Hence the winking face.

That was not even a one off for the TdF for Trek, Lance had that bike before he had Trek. Trek did not have a bike he was willing to ride.

Trek DOES rebrand bikes…I dont think Merida is owned by a company in Wi now are they? Many Treks are made on the same line as Specialized, Giant, and on and on and on…

The same way they sell us the President, our clothes and cars, every thing from youth to religion, and the same way they sell us our wars. And of course China is a part of Wisconsin.
