So I was trying on my brand spankin new XTerra Vortex last night and somehow put a small rip in it. The rip is on the bottom of the leg, about 6" from the cuff. The rip is about 1" long, and does not go all the way through. I ordered some glue, but am still really bummed. Has anybody glued their wetsuits. I’m assuming this will not affect the performance at all, but wanted to hear it from somebody who has experienced this. Thanks
Perhaps you could contact XTerra and see if they can do anything for you (maybe offer a suit at a discount). I’ve heard they have good customer service. Make sure to pull the suit up by the inside not the outside. It also helps to soak the thing in water and then let it dry to rehydrate it once per season (and perhaps when you first get one).
I have glued some spots on my wetsuit. It works to repair it, I have no idea on performance. It’s very hard to measure how it’s performing.
I swear my sleeveless xterra vortex came ripped. all on the calves. Have had to glue after every wearing. NO issues with my blue seventy suits (full sleeve helix and energie). When the xterra is no longer glueable I will replace it with a blue seventy.
Once you glue it it’ll be fine…
I’ve done it a bunch of times. no problems. check out this

In the four wetsuit’s I’ve owned, I put the most finger gouges and rips in the Xterra one for some reason.
The QR, BlueSeventy, and Ironman(now BlueSeventy) eventually got some chips in them after several years of use, but the Xterra one showed wear within a week.
Their #40 rubber is very soft I noticed when testing their suit. The suit is also very fast.
I dont see why gluing it would have any effect. Its on your calf- and whats a 1" rip on a suit that covers your whole body- like .01%?
On a side note, Ive never had any issue with my suit, a handful of sprints and hasty transitions, a hIM with strippers, couple oly… no nicks or tears yet
Just be careful
