Brake Nut Size for Aegis Victory?

I have an Aegis Victory with the bladed seat stays. I am trying to figure out what size brake nut I need to order for the rear brake.

I’m away from my bike this evening, but can check it out some time later. Do I understand correctly that you’re looking for the length of the nut?

Thanks! That is exactly what I am looking for.

Might not be able to get back to you until tomorrow night. At work until 10:30 PM, then doing run commute for 9:00 AM shift tomorrow. Off at 5:30, then (hopefully) running home the long way.

Thanks for checking, when you are able. I’m in no huge hurry.

Sorry it’s a little blurry - cell phone camera at maximum zoom and close range. Just making sure that this is what you’re looking for. Appears to be 1cm exactly, measured below the head.

BTW, this is the bike it came off of.

Thank you for the info. That is a beautiful bike, I can’t wait to get mine finished. How is the ride? I hope it rides as nice as it looks. Right now, my only road bike is a CAAD 7 Cannondale.

How strange is that? I bought this bike to replace my trusty old second-hand Cannondale R400. Loved that bike, even though it was a touch too small for me. My wife rides it now. Huge difference going from that metal-forked chatterbox to the Aegis as far as ride quality, though. Pretty silky ride, and I really like climbing on the Victory, despite the fact that it’s a little heavier than many of the other bikes available these days.

The wheels were a bit of an extravagance, I’ve got to admit. I consider it to be my “bling” bike. It’s my preferred ride for heading inland to the hills, but I’ve never raced on it. My race bike is a Softride Classic TT that I bought on eBay, with Velocity Deep V wheels that I built myself.

How did you come by your Victory? Get it on clearance from Pete’s remaining inventory? (He’s the former owner of the company, and lives pretty near me.)

What a coincidince (sp?) that you also have a Softride. My tri bike is a Rocket TT (650c). I bought my Victory frame on the classified section here on Slowtwitch. I got a great deal, and have just been plucking other deals here, eBay, ProBikeKit, Performancebike, and Nashbar. I am building a dream bike for very little money.

If you also have a commuter bike built up from a Nashbar “cyclocross” frame, I’m gonna get a little freaked out.

I am putting the last couple on parts on my Victory. I can’t wait to take it on the road next weekend… What size is yours? What is your height and inseam? I am 5’10" with a 32 inch inseam. My Victory is a 54, so hopefully I did it right. I have been reading that Aegis’ sizing is a bit different than other manufacturers.

Thanks

I’m 5’7" on a good day, and the inseam on my Levi’s is 30". (Can’t remember my proper, compressed inseam size off the top of my head.) My Victory is 52 cm, and I was initially a little too stretched out. Current stem is 100mm I think - can’t remember of the top of my head. Did lots of experimenting, and finally got it just right last summer, on my third stem and after taking out a spacer. (I have a pretty decent collection of spare parts these days.)

Post a pic when it’s built!
