for those that have used both…
what has better braking performance for the front caliper:
105 or Red.

very similar with the Red caliper been perhaps a little lighter. That 105 stuff work very well…
it really can’t possibly be different in any meaningful way. I think when you solicit opinions about brake calipers you mostly get responses more indicative of which one had the best brakes pads on it, in the best condition, at the time of comparison.
I have bikes with 105, ultegra, dura ace, and red and can’t tell any difference between any of em.
I will say the method of changing out brake pads on sram red is a pain compared to shimano. So if you have to swap carbon pads in from time to time, I would go shimano.
(or is there a trick guys, on the front, that I am missing?)

I think braking is the same omong the three but the red is more aero.
As far as changing front pads, no real tricks I’m aware of; pull the wheel, rotate the caliper on the mounting point and change a side, rotate caliper and change opposite side, straighten and re-check torque.
I have 105 brakes on the crit bike and have had Red on my daily driver. I couldn’t tell the difference in braking. I do perspire profusely and have TSS (Toxic Sweat Syndrome). My sweat etched the Red brakes and froze the quick release. Probably would have been ok if I cleaned the bike more often.
