This last weekend I participated in the Lake Zurich Triathlon and during the swim I managed to cut both of my feet in several places. All of the cuts are small, but those suckers have a way of getting infected and sometimes can heal slowly.
I’m currently using neosporin and bandaids, but I am wondering if anyone has some nifty tricks they can clue me in with.
You can always try super glue or that new clear “band-aid” glue to seal them shut and keep the nasties out. Just make sure you sterilize them first-don’t want to seal in the nasties…
Watch those cuts like a hawk and get yourself to a doc the second it looks like an infection is hinted.
I did the home treatment on a cut (OK, it was more of a puncture wound) I got at Alcatraz; scrubbed like crazy, probed with sterile tweezers, hydrogen peroxide, then Neosporin. It took about six weeks to heal and even then left a hard scar under the skin.
Treat foot injuries very seriously and stay on top of 'em. Hot soaks might help between bandage changes; bring as much blood to the foot as possible and speed that healing.
Good doctoring!
Would that Second Skin stuff be a viable option? Superglue is a thought, but I know that it isn’t too flexible once it dries.
