Bottom Bracket on Cat's Cheetah Bike

Hello,

I’m riding a Cheetah Bike and was wondering if I could change the bottom bracket (old BB 71 Shimano Square Model) to use something more recent (FSA or Shimano 7800 or 7900). As the bracket cage isn’t threated (at least on its externs parts), I guess it’s not possible but just in case, if someone can tell me more ?

Thanks in advance.

Any standard BB will fit.

Chris

But how do you fit a recent BB without a threated bottom bracket box ?

I think you can buy press in fit cups that are threaded. Might have to check with the Cheetah people to be sure though.

Maybe you have something I haven’t seen before? I’ve definitely seen Cheetah’s with standard threaded bottom brackets.

Chris

Nick,

I ride also ride a Cheetah Cat and I have seen them installed with the oversize bearing on the outside. I remember seeing pictures of a modified bike and it was done by a bike shop in the Chicago area. I was looking at replacing the magura brakes with lighter conventional brakes at the time.

I’m actually looking to sell my bike now as I’ve had 2 achilles tendon surgeries and looking at a 3rd and my aero machine is sitting in the basement.

Brian

Hi Brian,
Do you still have your CAT Cheetah bike for sale? If not, do you know anyone has one for sale? My email address is: maxtbicycle@yahoo.com. I have been looking for it for a while, thank you.
