Both my Garmin 310xt and Edge 305 break at the same time - coincidence?

Sometime last week my computer no longer could recognize my Edge 305 when connected to the USB port; after Garmin remoteley connected to my computer they determined that the software in the Edge had become coroputed and needed to be replaced. A few days after that my Garmin 310xt stopped recording the distance I had run; nothing like running 5 miles in the hot Virginia summer with your watch saying you’ve only run 2.3 miles - it gets even better when your watch is stuck on 4 miles for the last 5.5 miles of the run - freaking awesome.

Anyway, I contacted Garmin today and said I thought it was really, really weird that both my Edge 305 and Forerunner 310xt would get messed up at the same time. I wondered if there was some ominous Garmin virus that could have infected each device or if something else could have gone wrong. They think it is just coincidence but I’m not so sure. Anyone else have an issue of multiple Garmin devices dying at nearly the same time?

FWIW, my Edge 705 is NEVER automatically recognized, I have to manually download the data, while my Forerunner 305 IS automatically recognized and launches Training Center every time. Other than that, both work fine…EXCEPT that occasionally my Forerunner won’t turn on after it’s allegedly been charged. Don’t know why this is, but all I do is leave it on the charger overnight and it’s good as new. In fact, initially, it’s so “dead” the display won’t even read that it’s charging, though eventually it indicates charging is complete. It doesn’t happen often, maybe once every month or two, but now I know what’s going on, and how to deal with it. Sorry I couldn’t be of any real help with your problem…
