Boston Marathon....who's in?

I’m heading up to Beantown tomorrow, staying thorough Tuesday. If there’s enough Slowtwitchers in town, then maybe an informal get together would be a good idea. Who’s going to be around (racer or spectator), and who’s up for a gathering?

I’ll be there but it is a commando trip. Drive 7.5 hours on Sunday, register, eat, sleep, race at noon on Monday, drive home at 5 pm on Monday post race, arrive home at 1 pm.

The only chance to meet ST dudes would be before the start. There is a diner right across from the 3000/4000 corral in Hopkinton. I usually hang in there, drink coffee and eat a few bagels with peanut butter and jam. I should be there from around 10 am till 11 am or so.

Dev,

Thanks for sharing. With all due respect, this has nothing against you, but there is only a micro-second of the whole skating motion that looks “good” in a still shot. People always look so awkward when you freeze the moition. Even great skiers like you.

P.S. As for Boston - you are a commando. Drive that far to have your legs absolutly beaten to a pulp only to turn around and dive home. I think you deserve a purple heart or the silver cross or what ever military award( I am sure you know better) is most appropriate.

I’ll get there on Friday and leave on Tuesday.

I’ll be at the Polar HRM booth, you guys can meet there. If you use a they are changing batteries at the Expo.

Paul,

I’ll try to stop by the diner and say hello. I’m going homw tomorrow and hitting the REd Sox game on Saturday.

Anyone going to the dinner on Sunday?; seems like it will just be a big hassle.

Guys, if anyone is staying at the “start line” end of the course, a group of us from Ottawa are staying at the Days Inn in Milford MA. We are going to dinner at the Applyby’s near the hotel, likley around 7:30 pm. This is what we usually do. The pre race pasta meal is more of a hassle. You can call me at the hotel:

Matt, go hard or go home. Sub 2:50 or you are just a regular tri poser

Have a great race everyone. I’m contemplating running my first non-ironman marathon in quite some time this fall so that I can head to Boston in 2007. I’m glad I’m not running this year based on my current weight and lack of fitness

Are you saying they will be changing batteries at the Polar HRM booth? Is this a free service? Free is good!!

I’ve got an old Polar Accurex NV…should I bring it along?

I will be running…not sure how fast…but I’ll try to gut it out.

It is not free but they do it while you are waiting or pretty quickly. Bring it

bump…heading up the road soon. good luck to all running. hope i can run into a few of you of you up there.

i’m going to suck at the race, but it should still be a fun weekend

If you have time check out the fee gait analysis clinic at Niketown on Newbury St. I went over there on my lunch break today and it was pretty neat (and I finally got to try on a pair of those Free 5.0s- very interesting!)

I’ll check the diner.

I decided to pass on it this year because it is too close to Columbia. That seemed like a sound idea at the time; now, however, I’m kind of regretting that decision. Good luck to all of you, and I hope the temperatures are less torrid than they were last year!
