Probably the first time it has ever closed in January. Not surprising given the recent posts here about the race filling up quickly. I was hoping to qualify in a few weeks at Hyannis so I could use the number for this year and next, will still shoot for a BQ time and then just wait until next year.
I’m sure there are other races that promote themselves as a last-chance qualifier as well (Hyannis being one) that are now in the same boat. It seems that there are more and more charitable organizations each year that use the race as a fundraiser as the BAA has increased the size of the field and done separate starts times/corrals. I’m curious to see how the “last-chance” races advertize themselves when their respective registrations open for next year.
They’ll just add an asterisk to their names…
Crap - Procrastination … I should have known after it sold out last year…
