SHOCKING!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. military has drawn up plans to significantly increase the number of American forces in Iraq, which now total around 1,400, as Washington seeks to bolster Iraqi forces battling the Islamic State, U.S. officials told Reuters on Friday.

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, declined to offer details. The United States aims to help advise and train Iraqi and Kurdish forces battling Islamic State fighters who swept into much of northern Iraq.

Now if only we knew if our President has decided to again arm ISIS so they can use our own weapons against our " advisors"

This strategy worked out just swell with the (ahem) moderate rebels in Syria:
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/al-qaeda-linked-nusra-front-fights-rebels-syria-turkey-border/

“The Nusra Front’s recent surge has overrun strongholds in Syria’s Idlib province of two prominent rebel factions that proved unable to repel the assault despite getting arms and training from the U.S. The opposition groups’ collapse marks a significant setback to Washington’s plan of partnering with more moderate brigades to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and other radicals.”

The election has passed. Lot’s of stuff that has been waiting for political purposes will take place now.

Most of the problem with ISIS could be solved very easily: Give Assad money and weapons.

Hmmm…I’ve heard that somewhere else before…where could it be.

Giving people money and weapons can turn out really really bad for us.

This is different. This time we only have to fight-off the Junior Varsity.

We are already giving money and weapons. Except we are giving it to Syrian rebels, which has turned Syria into a homebase for ISIS. Take Syria away and a lot of the group’s income goes with it.

What we have now is an asinine policy of fighting ISIS but leaving their stronghold intact. It is politically driven because politicians don’t want to be seen as aiding Assad. Sure, Assad may be a bad guy, but he’s a pissant dictator and not a threat like ISIS.

Except we are giving it to Syrian rebels, which has turned Syria into a homebase for ISIS.

ISIS was well established in Syria about two years before the U.S. sent any arms into Syria.

ISIS does have some U.S.-manufactured weapons but they were looted from Iraq, not directly supplied by the U.S.

This is a good start. We should send about 150,000 more troops along with some really fucking big bombs.

Does it really make sense to invade Iraq to take our Saddam Hussein, but give Assad money and weapons? How is Assad any better than Hussein?

Gassed his own people? Check.
Bombed and killed his own people? Check.
Used to have chemical weapons? Check.

Yep. We should definitely give Assad weapons and money.

I think that we should quit being Saudi Arabia’s bitch and let them keep the peace. Take all the money and manpower that we might spend over there and put it towards securing the US and let them figure their shit out or kill each other. Their choice.

U.S. trained and equipped Iraqi soldiers couldn’t or wouldn’t fight a bunch of guys in land cruisers. If they aren’t motivated enough to protect their own country I’m not sure why we would want to help them or what good it would do.

This is the closest we will ever get to seeing Obama eat crow.

That’s a good idea as well.

I think at this point we should just take Iraq and all its oil, kill anyone who doesn’t go along, set it up as a colony and build a bunch of casinos and golf courses.

Turn it into America. Freedom, bitches!

Either one would work for me. I am pretty tired of spending billions of dollars and risking (and losing) American lives to protect one group of religious extremists from another, slightly more bloodthirsty, group of religious extremists because they MIGHT pose a threat MUCH LATER ON. How about we wait for them to completely take over, then carpet-bomb the whole area? Fuck!!

why wait?

Wrong. But that’s a nice imitation of a lawyer by throwing in the word directly. The were told that the rebels had been infiltrated heavily by radicals but continued to supply them with our weapons. So they used many of the weapons we supplied to fight the iraquis and gain even more of them. You need to stop listening to the WH press secretary when they are trying to cover Obamas ass.

You’re wrong. Sorry. The CIA began delivering weapons to Syria in September 2013. ISIS was already very well established by that point.

The U.S., in any case, is very far from the only minor arms supplier in the area. Check out the list of weapons use by ISIS. We don’t supply the rebels with T-72 tanks.

Most of their weapons are from looting Iraqi and Syrian (Assad) weapons depots. They wouldn’t need U.S. weapons even if you could prove that one of the U.S.-supplied weapons actually reached ISIS.

Apparently we didn’t teach the Iraqi army that when you’re about to lose control of your military base you blow all your shit up.

There’s plenty to criticize about U.S. policy without telling myths.

I think at this point we should just take Iraq and all its oil, kill anyone who doesn’t go along, set it up as a colony and build a bunch of casinos and golf courses.

The British and French already tried that.

You are the only one spouting myths.

Where did i say ISIS wasn’t around before the arms deal? I guess that makes it OK for our leaders to be careless with the distribution of weapons even thought tbey were told where they would be going and we along with our allies would be fighting against our own weapons we willfully handed over to extreme radicals?

I don’t care who else supplied them because I am talking about what our leadership did. Nice diversion though. Looking for proof? Lol keep pounding that Obama drum because this is old news even if it doesnt put a wrinkle in your shorts.

We helped supply them knowing who they were and they then added those weapons to their arsenal which helped them acquire other weapons. Its OK to take the lefts propaganda butt plug out for a moment a d deal with reality. Again this is old news unless you get your news exclusively from the WH press Secretary. Yes the Iraquis left supplies behind but they were facing many of OUR weapons that we put in the hands of radical Islamists.

Now if you want to go to the harder to prove story we can talk about the rumored arms deal run by the CIA ( ordered by the WH) that helped bring about the Benghazi murders. Maybe eventually we will find out the truth about that one but if true it means we were supplying our enemies knowingly much earlier that reported.
