Bontrager Aero Bar?

Does anyone know if the Bontrager Race XXX Lite Carbon OS Aerobar( what a mouth full!) comes with an r-bend or straight bar option. Seems ski bend is the only option on the web-site.

Fine tuning MissP’s position on her new Team Timex bike and looking at some different bar options.

Thanks

i think that they come with s bend or ski bend. but I also think that they are a standard size

When I got my Trek TTX 9.9 last year, it came with the “ski” bend bar. I ordered the s-bend right away from bontrager. I am pretty sure they still have it.

Bontrager sells an S-bend option but it is made by HED so it is exactly the same as the HED Carbon S-bend. I think HED also makes a deep-S if you need to get the tips up higher because the Bontrager bars have a high pad height.

Thanks. So any of the HED extentions should fit in the Bontrager base bars?

Huh… Just went to their site and it looks like they have changed it since the last time I was there. I did find them, but it was a little tricky. You actually have to go to the Trek Store website and look under Bontrager road components. $169.99

I have just the opposite problem, I have the S-Bend extensions on the XXX Lite, and I’m looking for the Ski tip extensions. I emailed Bontrager and got a part number that they said I could just take to any Bontrager dealer and they could order it.

I’d offer up a swap, but I’m going to sell my Trek Team Time Trial, and for some reason the S-Bend seems to be the rage, even though I don’t like them and I’ve seen a few things suggesting they’re not as aero since they tend to increase the frontal area of your hand/wrist. To me, the S-Bends are uncomfortable due to the wrist bend, and they’re harder to shift, especially in the upper gears.

I’m pretty sure any Hed extension will fit that base bar. I know the S bends do and actually since Zipp s-bends fit in a Hed bar i would speculate that the Zipps would fit in the Bontrager bar as well.
