Bonk Breaker will continue as the official on-course nutrition bar for the 2014 series of Ironman, Ironman 70.3 and 5150 Series races in the US. We have also added 4 races in Australia for 2014. All supported races are listed below. You will find Bonk Breaker on course at the bike and run aid stations for these events. Exact details will be listed in the event’s Athlete Guide for each race. As always, we’ll be at the expo for each of these races sampling products for all racers and spectators.
See you at the races!

Just curious, but do they actually hand these off or do you stop at a table and grab one? I’d be tempted to grab one late in the IM and not have to bother carrying solid food. Live off the course and all.
My most recent order are almost square in shape, about 2 inches by 2 inches, whereas previous batches were more rectangular, about 3 inches by 1 inch. The rectangle shape is a little easier to hold and eat.
They come in two sizes and you probably bought the Bonk Bites, which is the sampler/mini size, by mistake. Same thing happened to me. I think this is the same size you’ll find at the race.
They have them at the bike aid stations for handoff. Can’t remember if they’re cut up in advance or not, but they are for sure on the run course cut into small pieces and handed out.
Hey Mad Jee, your observation is correct. We have some new cutting machines at a few of our bakeries and they cut the bars into a more square shape. They are still 2.2oz bars, just slightly different in shape. As mentioned above, we do have the Bonk Bites that are 1.1oz and used on course at the Ironman events. They are all square.
The delivery of the bars at the aid station is something we’re trying to standardize. As you know, most of the workers at the aid stations are volunteers and they can sometimes get creative on how the bars should be handed or displayed to the athletes. On the bike course…the wrapped Bite (sealed) is usually handed off to the athletes as they ride by. On the run course, we’ve seen them handed out…or laid out on the table with the GU, fruit, pretzels, etc.
Most aid stations should have all four flavors of Bites we send to each race. Those being Peanut Butter & Jelly, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Apple Pie and Blueberry Oat. They do move product around during the race…especially at full Ironman distance races. So it’s possible they may have just two or three flavors on the run course.
Hope that helps! We hope to see several of you at Oceanside and Galveston here in a few short weeks.
