Anybody have a link to the bike and run course profile/elevation for Boise 70.3? Their website says the profile is included in the course description but nothing doing as best I could tell.
most courses have profiles on mapmyride.com
.
That may be because they are renegotiating the course right now and I do not know if a “final” bike course has even been agreed upon. It is a damn shame they were forced to change it, because the old course worked nicely and none of the new options that are being explored have been particularly pleasing to the organizing committee. They have not really said anything about this publicly (I only found out because a good friend and training buddy is on the advisory committee) , and I think that a lot of people who have done this race before are going to be pretty disappointed when they show up assuming that the course is the same as in previous years only to be told it has been changed.
the new course is up on the website. www.ironmanboise.com/bike.html. the area going to the birds of prey park area is eliminated. the course is almost a total out and back, going back down the long hill that you rode up in the beginning going over the boise river. after the bridge you go back on warm springs road towards downtown area going thru some scenic neighborhoods. much more scenic and a lot more spectator friendly areas. I think a better course and a faster course.
Interesting. That does not look to be as bad as some of the proposed modifications that were being considered. I will try to ride it this week and then I will be in a better position to report back.
It appears from this that we will be allowed to ride on Hwy 21 through the canyon and across the bridge - can you confirm this? I was of the impression that there was a strong push to move the course onto the greenbelt through the canyon, which would be a disaster in my opinion. The “bike turns” do not mention anything between turning onto hwy 21 and turning onto technology way, which I assume means that we avoid getting onto the greenbelt?
from what I understand, the only time you’ll be on the greenbelt will be during the run.

Is that map entirely right? Just the one water stop? I hope not, but if it is, I’m going to have to rethink my water bottle setup.
looks like the course is up but no detail on the elevation. any idea how to track this down? also any idea if this year’s course has more or less vertical than last year’s? thanks for the help
The overall vertical will be less, but the net is of course the same. If you want a profile you can make your own at the USATriathlon website or one of the www.mapmywhatever…
It should be a faster course, but pay close attention to what they will be telling athlete’s about turning from HWY21 to Warm Springs. If rumors are confirmed it will require a “slow zone”.
