I couldn’t disagree with you more. I think his comic relief adds a dimension that is desparately needed to the overall equation.

Everyone has a Bob in their life. That sort of annoying person that once you accept them for who they are they are kind of fun to be around, but best taken in small doses. He use to drive me nuts but I’ve accepted that he isn’t going anywhere and he is starting to grow on me.
He is the John Madden of Bicycle Racing. I think he in entertaining.

He is entertaining and that’s it! He has little or no real insight into the race itself even though he rode in the race. I use as an expamle his comments on CSC should have stopped for Zibreski (sp) when he fell on the TTT. For cripe sake, CSC was 2k out trying to top the Disco boys.

Well, he isn’t necessarily my cup of tea, but he has improved volumes. One thing though- if you subscribe to the ethos that there is no such thing as bad publicity, then Bob Roll just did what he is supposed to do- generate comment.
We just commented. He wins.
But yeah, I prefer Sam Posey’s delightful historical vignettes- they are fascinating and touching.

I think of his gestures as like a dubbed kung fu movie where the lips don’t move witht he words.
